Tired, Very Tired

I am exhausted today. I just posted the reason why on Sam's blog. Sorry, I am too tired to rewrite the entire thing here. So, you will have to hop over to her blog to get the story. Here's how to get there: http://samcampbell.blogspot.com

Memorial Day 2008

On this Memorial Day 2008, I think all I want to say is this:
REMEMBER, JUST REMEMBER
This is a photo I took at the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C.
I took this photo on the 2nd Honor Flight, June 2005.

This Day Is Officially Over

That's it! I am calling this day on account of technical difficulties. I am declaring this day official over at 3:25 PM. Why??? Nothing has gone right today and everything I touch breaks!

Sam, Katie and I had planned to go to the local plant nursery. We were going to take the kiddos to play in their large sandbox so we could take turns shopping for plants. Got up this morning to rain and clouds, so a change of venue was necessary. We decided to just head to the playland at the local mall.

I picked up Sam and Kieren with a low tire pressure warning buzzing on the dashboard. I headed to the gas station to put air in the low rear tire. Well, no amount of air was going to help with a NAIL stuck in the tire!! I headed home to let Mark deal with this issue. We called Katie, who was already at the mall, to see if she wanted to come to my house to play. She was heading home because her stomach was bothering her. (I didn't touch her, I wasn't even near her. I swear!!)

When I came in my house, I turned on the kitchen lights and heard a high pitched sound. I turned off the lights, turned them back on and blew a light bulb!

Ian loves the movie "Alvin and the Chipmunks". But we can't watch it in the family room, because the DVD player broke right after I played "The Incredibles" on it!!

Britt called with a water leak while we were headed to lunch with my parents. Mark told her about my day and I had to swear that I had not snuck into her condo to touch her refrigerator!

I am typing this on by desktop computer. I didn't want to use my laptop for fear I would break that too. Hopefully, if I break the desktop, it will only be the keyboard!

Meanwhile, I can't get our video camera and burner to burn a disc. Mark wants me to keep trying. I think that is not a wise choice for today as I really don't want to replace the video camera as well as the DVD player!!

I am headed to the sofa with a nice safe book! I will let you know if the sofa survives my visit or not!

Tuna Boat

I am not a cat person. I am a dog person. I believe that there are cat people and dog people in this world. In other words, some people just naturally gravitate toward cats and others towards dogs. I love all animals but I think that I have grown to prefer dogs because I am allergic to cats. But, no matter which you are, there are some animals that touch your life.

Harry is Sam's cat. Harry is not well and has grown old. He has cancer and has lost a lot of weight. Harry will be given his peace tomorrow morning. Making the decision to do that has to be one of the hardest decisions ever. I had to make it with our last dog and I don't look forward to ever having to do it again. All that you can hope for is that God takes care of that decision for you, but sometimes I just falls in you lap. And, it sucks!! It sucks big time.

Harry, aka Tuna Boat, is the coolest fat cat. He has always wanted your attention, unlike most cats that just want to do their own thing. That's probably why I love him. He lets me pet him and understands that I may sneeze! Not only that, he tolerates me leaving him to wash my hands so I don't do the foolish thing and touch my eyes. He can purr loud enough that you can hear it across the room. And, yes I have called him Tuna Boat for many years. He was one fat cat before he started losing weight. When he landed on your lap, you knew it. He even begged for treats like the dog!

Harry has been through a lot in his life. I think he used up a few of his 9 lives. He was in a car accident with Sam and Andy. He witnessed Andy in his underwear swatting at a bat in the living room. (That was probably 2 lives and a very funny story!) He adopted Cullen into his life and probably thought he would never live thru that one! Then, in his golden years he got a new bed to sleep on with a new mate, Kieren. In the middle of all that, he was forced to beat up on 2 dogs and new kitten. Believe me, he ruled over them all (dogs, kitten and kids) from the very start.

Harry is loved my many and will be missed by all.

Harry, tonight as I head to bed I will be praying that there is a McDonald's cheeseburger waiting for you in heaven.

Happy Birthday Katie!!

My friend, Katie, is celebrating a birthday today!!!

I searched and searched for a picture of her to post today. She is apparently hard to get on film because I only found a couple. And, neither of them were very good pics. So, I did the next best thing and found a picture of her baby holding my baby. (Well, technically Jake is her oldest, but he will always be her baby!) I just can believe how little both of them look. Jake is getting ready to enter kindergarten this year! Ian was only a week or so old when this was taken!

We hope you have a wonderful birthday Katie!!
And, Happy Mother's Day too!

Love,
Heather, Mark and Ian

I know I have promised more FL pictures. I have just been so busy and today (when I had a little time) my head hurt too bad to care about doing anything! Sorry.

The Yard Chicken

Don't you just love the expression on his face!?!

Several years ago, my mom picked up this piece of 'art'. She first put it in the front yard. I convinced her it needed to be in the back yard so that no one was tempted to steal it! (Truth be told, I didn't want anyone to even see it!!!)

A few days ago, Ian discovered the yard chicken. His ball rolled up to it's feet. He ran quickly up to it, abruptly stopped and carefully picked up his ball while keep his eye on the chicken. Dad and I saw it and had a pretty good laugh. After that, Ian had to check out this thing further and this is the expression Papaw was able to capture.

Florida Vacation

I haven't blogged about our Florida vacation because I have been too busy since we got home!! The above is just a teaser for the stories and photos to come. Hopefully, I will have more time tomorrow to get the whole story out for the world to read.

FYI: I have the best photo of Brian EVER!!! Every time I look at it, I laugh to the point of peeing my pants!
